On the edge of Mont-près-Chambord, Les Lodges de Blois-Chambord cover 3.5 hectares around two ponds. Run by Virginie and Arnaud, this 3-star campsite has 98 units, including 45 pitches for tents, vans and motorhomes. Most of the accommodation is built from wood, and cars are kept to a minimum on site.
What makes the place stand out is the range of nights on offer. Three 12 m² wooden barrels, a floating lodge on the pond, four bivouac tents on stilts, a stopover hut with a glass roof and the Africa, Bali and Java lodges perched on their stilts: you could spend a week here without sleeping twice in the same kind of shelter. The campsite is all about peace and quiet, with no noisy entertainment, and silence is requested from 10.30 pm.
The site is open from 5 April to 25 October 2026. It also offers air-conditioned chalets and mobile homes, including several cottages on the edge of the ponds, an indoor heated pool and a sauna.
For a night in a barrel, a bivouac tent or the floating lodge, there is no need to pack the car: cotton or recyclable disposable bed linen and towels can be hired at reception, and beds can be made up on arrival. The barrels use the shared toilet block close by, and free wifi covers the whole site.
Cyclists will find bike hire on site, a laundry with a washing machine and a tumble dryer, and a small shop for last-minute supplies. In the evening, the clubhouse offers TV, board games and a library.
Dogs are welcome in the accommodation (5 € per night) and must be kept on a lead on site.
On site, children have a trampoline and a playground, adults a pétanque court, and everyone the two ponds for fishing or watching ducks, moorhens, dragonflies and, with a little luck, the kingfisher. Mont-près-Chambord holds the “starry village” label: once the lights go out, the night sky can be admired from your terrace.
The bivouac tents and the stopover cabin make the campsite an obvious overnight halt on the Loire à Vélo route, which passes a few kilometres away. With its Home Vélo label, the site also rents bikes by the day for rides along the quiet lanes of the Sologne.
The Château de Chambord, 10 km away, can be visited before or after a night in a barrel. The ZooParc de Beauval, Cheverny and Chaumont-sur-Loire are an easy drive away, and hot-air balloons take off over the Loire valley.
